The best way to thank our feet for everything they do for us, daily, is by pampering them with a spa treatment. We tend to build up stress in our feet and when released, you can feel your entire body unwind.
But, since most of us can’t afford expensive spa treatments and since our feet do deserve some love and TLC, especially since they carry the weight of your world – day after day.
Here are some simple spa treatments that you can do from your own home without breaking the bank. But before you begin make sure to prepare the ambience so you can start unwinding and relaxing: dim the lights, light a few candles and pour yourself a glass of wine.
Soothing peppermint foot scrub
3/4 cup white sugar
Olive or coconut oil
Few drops of organic essential peppermint oil
In a small bowl, place the sugar and gradually add a little bit of the oil of your choice, until you form a sticky but grainy paste. Then add a few drops of essential oil.
Place the scrub in a pretty container and use in the bath or shower to exfoliate and moisturize your sore feet.
DIY Foot Soak for Achy Feet
Vinegar is the star ingredient in this foot soak because it reduces inflammation, making the achiest feet feel better.
2 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
Epsom salts or coarse sea salt
Fill a large plastic basin with hot water, and then add the vinegar and full in a generous handful of salt. Soak your feet for 20 minutes, adding more hot water as needed.
Prepare the same mixture but now with cold water, dip your two towels into the cold water and rinse out and wrap around your feet for 5 minutes.
Milk scrub for dry heels
1 cup whole milk
5 cups warm water
1/2 cup sugar or salt
1/2 cup baby oil
Your favorite thick moisturizer
Warm, fuzzy socks
Place milk and water in a large basin or foot tub and soak your feet for 5 to 10 minutes. In a smaller bowl, combine the oil, sugar or salt and mix together until forms a paste. Rub onto your feet right after soaking your feet, massage into you feet with circular motions.
Scrub the pumice stone on your feet, which will exfoliate your feet. Rinse. Place a thick layer of cream on your feet and put your socks on for several hours.
Rejuvenating lemon foot scrub
2 1/2 cups white sugar
1/4 cup almond or coconut oil
8 drops of lemon essential oil
In a small bowl, combine all three ingredients until you have formed a wet-sandy consistency. Massage into your feet for about five minutes before having a shower.
Perk-me up coffee foot scrub
3 tbsp. brewed coffee grounds
3 tbsp. white sugar
1 tbsp. coconut oil
Place all three ingredients in a small bowl and rub the paste into your skin. Massage gently and let sit for 5 minutes and rinse off.
